A Des Moines crash involving a four-wheeler killed one person Thursday night.
It happened around 9:00 p.m. in the intersection of East 26th and Lyon Street.
Police say the ATV was traveling east bound on Lyon Street and didn’t stop at the stop sign, it was hit by a southbound vehicle. The driver of the ATV, 29-year-old Daniel Halterman of Des Moines, was thrown about 20 feet and landed on a sidewalk. The ATV continued east bound where it collided with a north bound vehicle.
Halterman was taken to Methodist Hospital but died from his injuries.
The driver of the vehicle the ATV initially hit, Chad Cox of Des Moines, is not believed to be at fault in the accident but is being cited for no insurance and driving with a suspended license.
It is illegal to drive four-wheelers on public streets.
