With a rainy spring, many people haven’t been able to make it to the Big Creek Marina to see the $1 million worth of renovations.

That all changed Sunday as skies cleared for Father’s Day.

Hundreds used the marina’s five new boat ramps, renovated bathrooms, and newly built beachside cabanas and shelters.

Mark Crawford manages the Big Creek Marina.

He says the facelift was long over-due.

“We have a lot bigger shelters to hold bigger groups. The boat ramps were getting pretty old so they got new boat ramps that are really accessible. It’s all really nice,” said Crawford.

The new cabanas are first come-first serve while the shelters must be reserved.

Boats are also available for rent.
