The Animal Rescue League is finding homes for many furry friends in need.

The ARL recently took in hundreds of animals, including 50 cats rescued from a hoarder.

To clear out the kennels the ARL held an Adopt-a-Thon. They reduced adoption fees to just $25.

The promotion was the ARL’s most successful to date, adopting out 229 pets in just four days.

“We do need adopters ongoing, but if we can reduce those reasons why they come in…if people would spay and neuter, and keep track of their pets and make a commitment. We could virtually empty out shelters across Iowa, everywhere,” says Tom Colvin with the ARL.

Fees now back to normal at $125 for dogs and $100 for cats.
