MidAmerican Energy customers can voice their opinions on a proposed electric rate increase Monday night.

The meeting is at 5:30 p.m. at the Iowa Utilities Board office hearing room at 1375 East Court Avenue.

The public is invited to ask questions and give comments on the possible increase. The proposed increase will be anywhere from 6 to 8 percent, which would cost an average of $4 per month.

The deadline for the Iowa Utilities Board’s decision on the higher rates is March 17 of 2014.
