Two robbers tried to cover their tracks Thursday morning by taking the store’s surveillance equipment with them.

Des Moines police were called to the Tobacco Outlet, at 3409 Southwest 9th Street, around 6:00 a.m.

The caller reported seeing two men, wearing black hooded sweatshirts and masks, escorting an employee into the store. The witness told police one of the men was holding a gun.

When officers arrived, the two men had already left.

Officers searched the area but were not able to find the suspects.

Police say along with the store’s surveillance system, the robbers got away with about $6,000, lottery tickets, and cigarettes.
