Des Moines police have made two arrests in connection with an investigation into several vehicle break-ins at fitness centers, daycare centers, and recreational areas across the metro.

Their investigation has spanned the last two months and netted the arrest of 33-year-old Kyle Krug of Mason City and 26-year-old Amanda Earp of Ankeny. Police say the two were responsible for break-ins in Des Moines, Ankeny, Clive, West Des Moines, and Mason City. They were also linked to a stolen vehicle taken from Ankeny and found in Des Moines.

Krug and Earp were arrested June 12th at The Lodge in Ankeny, an extended stay motel. Police found many of the items taken from vehicles in the hotel room, such as purses, cell phones, and other electronic equipment.

Krug is facing six charges of false use of credit cards, three counts of third degree burglary, one count of first degree theft, and one count of second degree robbery.

Earp is charged with four counts of false use of credit cards, two counts of third degree burglary, and one count of second degree robbery.

Both are being held in the Polk County Jail.

Police believe Krug and Earp may be responsible for dozens of more burglaries and more charges could be filed.
