Des Moines police have released the name of a man killed Wednesday when he was pinned between a recycling truck and a trailer.

Emergency crews were called to Recycling Inc. located at 201 SE 6th St. at 5:40 p.m. When they arrived they discovered 37-year-old Michael Grant of Des Moines, an employee of Recycling Inc., had been pinned between a truck and a trailer.

Police say Grant had called Roy’s Towing Service for help with a disabled recycling truck and was helping direct the tow-truck driver back the recycling truck into an area it could be stored overnight. Police say for some reason Grant walked into the path of the disabled truck and the driver couldn’t see him anymore. He was pinned between the disabled truck and a parked trailer.

Paramedics transported Grant to Iowa Lutheran Hospital, but he was pronounced dead.

Police say the driver of the tow-truck has been cooperative and they believe Grant’s death was an accident.

The investigation into the incident continues.
