Get your calendars out and mark June 29th for a Barnstormers’ game. You won’t only get to see some football, you’ll also be helping Iowa children with cancer.
“They came to us because Channel 13 did a story and they asked about how they could help us out and so we talked to them about it and Team Kelsey Night was born,” explains Kelsey’s brother, Kane Michelsen.
Kelsey Night is a fundraiser for the Team Kelsey Foundation.
It was created after 15-year-old Kelsey Michelsen died of brain cancer in December. A portion of the ticket sales for the game will go to the foundation.
There will also be an auction of footballs signed by celebrities and a half time show by the Southeast Polk Rhythamettes, which was Kelsey’s dance team.
The public are also encouraged to wear pink, Kelsey’s favorite color.
“One of the goals of the Team Kelsey Foundation is to help families who have children that have been diagnosed with cancer. It’s not just brain cancer; it’s all types of cancer,” says older brother, Kyle Michelsen. “We want to gout and support them financially, spiritually and educationally.”
