CAMPGROUND FLOOD: Campers Evacuated

In northeast Iowa they’re trying to recover from eleven inches of rain over the weekend.

Park crews evacuated campers at Yellow River State Forest while the park crews assess damage.

Floodwaters forced more than 80 people to evacuate the Brown`s Hollow area. The high water washed a car under a pedestrian bridge Saturday. The driver of the car had to get out through the sunroof before water washed the car downstream.

The campground’s picnic tables and fire rings that were anchored in concrete were washed away. Campers were moved to a shelter and the Red Cross was helping take care of them.
