A well-known Iowa businessman and philanthropist is being laid to rest Monday.

Bill Krause passed away last Wednesday, after a battle with cancer.

Krause opened his first gas station in Hampton in 1959. It eventually became the Kum & Go chain with more than 420-stores in 11 states.

His funeral is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. at Saint Francis of Assisi Church in West Des Moines on Ashworth Road.

Krause was 78-years-old.
