Des Moines police are looking for the robber of a fast food restaurant.

Police say the suspect robbed the Wendy’s on Merle Hay Road around 5:00 p.m. Sunday.

Workers tell police the man had a weapon and asked for the money quietly. They say he then ran across the street and jumped into a truck.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office says there’s no danger to people in the neighborhoods around the store.

“No one at anyplace is expecting to get robbed like this but I feel at this time everyone is safe in the area. It`s one of those situations that it`s very dynamic at the time that it happens but I don`t think anyone was in any danger at the time. Hopefully we`ll be able to get some leads off of this and hopefully get this gentleman into custody,” says Sgt. Brent Long with the Des Moines Police Department.

Police say the suspect is a white male about six-feet tall and 180 pounds.

He wore sunglasses, an orange tank top, dark shorts, camouflage hat and drove a dark-colored Ford Ranger pulling a trailer.
