COLLEGE FOOTBALL: Iowa, ISU Recruits

Matt Nelson returned from a recruiting trip to Stanford knowing where he wanted to play college football…

Iowa.

Nelson is a tight end and defensive end for Cedar Rapids Xavier. Last season he caught 14 passes, 8 for touchdowns.

He also had 11 sacks.

Nelson picks Iowa over Stanford, Notre Dame, Nebraska, Iowa State, Wisconsin and others.

Five of the state’s top 6 recruits have committed to Iowa.

Running Tommy Mister of St. Rita High School in Illinois commits to Iowa State.

Mr. Mister rushed for more than a thousand yards and 15 touchdowns last season. Mister had offers From Notre Dame, Illinois, and Kansas among others.

The 6’1”, 190 pound Mister tells the Chicago Tribune he was thinking Michigan State until Urbandale’s Allen Lazard made Mister realize what he’d miss out on at Iowa State.

Lazard is rated the #1 receiving prospect in the nation.
