Governor Branstad honored more than 100 Iowa volunteers Thursday morning in Pleasant Hill.

The volunteers are recipients of the governor’s volunteer awards.

The program began 30 years ago and honors individuals, groups and disaster volunteers.

The governor urged the recipients to encourage their friends and families to volunteer.

The governor wants Iowa to be number one in the nation for volunteering. As of now, the state is in third place.
