A Des Moines woman has changed her plea from not guilty to guilty in connection with a deadly hit and run last March.

Police say 26-year-rold Kristine Gordon was behind the wheel of an SUV that hit 58-year-old Clayton Payne.

It happened at the intersection of 6th Avenue and College Avenue.

Payne died from his injuries at the hospital.

Gordon entered a guilty plea to driving while barred, involuntary manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident.

Gordon’s record is extensive and includes four OWI arrests. The third offense sent her to prison with a maximum of 5 years to serve. Gordon was released after serving just over a year.

The attorneys in the case are suggesting a prison term of 17-years.

A judge will make the final decision during sentencing in August.
