Investigators are looking into a house fire that broke out in Warren County early Friday morning.

Crews were responded to the home at 9559 Nixon Street south of Indianola after receiving several calls about the fire. The area is just west of Lake Ahquabi.

“At some point one of the neighbors heard popping and looked out the window and saw the garage on fire. But already the call came in by then as well,” says Chief Brian Seymour with the Indianola Fire Department.

Crews don’t know how the fire started but they do say it started in a three car garage. The flames then spread into the living quarters.

Nobody was home at the time, but firefighters do believe someone lived there.

Firefighters say the house is gutted.

Five fire departments helped fight the fire.
