Customers have one more chance to weigh in on MidAmerican energy’s proposed rate increase.

The final public hearing will take place at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Best Western on Third Avenue Northwest in Fort Dodge.

MidAmerican Energy says the rate increase is needed to cover costs.

The last increase was in 1995 and MidAmerican says since then, its expenses have increased by $300-million.

MidAmerican says it’s also invested $5-billion in new infrastructure and technology.

A final decision on the rate hike isn’t expected until next May.
