The East Scarlets baseball team hasn't been to the state baseball tournament in 15 years.  The last time they made it to state Principal Park was called Sec Taylor Stadium, 'Gettin Jiggy wit it,' was one oft he most popular songs, and the cost of gas was just over a dollar.

It's been a while.

This year the Scarlets hope to change that.  East is 24-2 overall, that's the best record in class 4A.  The Scarlets have won the conference and will likely be the #1 seed when substate rolls around.

If East wants to make it back to state they'll likely have to beat West Des Moines Valley.  The Tigers have beaten the Scarlets the last 2 years in substate.

East has 1 state baseball championship in school history, that came back in 1980.
