Police say a witness helped catch a suspect Monday.

A woman said she heard two shots fired in the 2100 block of 16th Street just after 1 o'clock.

She provided a good description to police. When officers arrived on the scene they found a person matching the description.

“We got called on shots fired, when we arrived saw him talked to him he said kids ran opposite direction, he looked nervous - went to pat him down he took off running. Got him in this area laying down,” explained Officer Alycia Peterson.

Police took Fredrick Williams Jr. into custody. He's facing a weapons charge and interference with officials acts.

Authorities also found a gun in the area.
