A central Iowa family got a special treat this Fourth of July when their soldier came home from Afghanistan.
21-year old Sgt. Brian Reynolds arrived at the Des Moines airport around 1:30 Thursday.
His family and friends were on hand to welcome him.
He is home three weeks early due to a family funeral.
Despite the sad circumstances, the soldier’s family and friends tried to give him a big welcome since he’ll miss the group homecoming celebration.
“The rest of his troop is coming home later so they’ll be getting their hero’s welcome home all together and he’s coming home by himself,” explains Jacque Wilbur. “He’s our hero so we wanted this to be a special day for him, welcoming him coming home.”
Reynolds returns home to his wife, Andrea and 18-month old son Hunter.
