MUD VOLLEYBALL: Fire Fundraiser
Some people got down and dirty for the Fourth of July this year.
The West Des Moines fire department hosted a mud volleyball tournament.
32 teams competed in in the 31st annual running of the event.
The tournament is to help raise money for the department helping to pay for training opportunities and equipment.
But the members say the best part is getting the chance to play in the mud.
“We get dirty in our line of work and we get to work with hoses. But I think this is one of the reasons why this is such a great event is people love jumping in the mud and getting dirty,” says Denise Kinkade.
The tournament raises around $4,000 every year.
