Thousands of people came out on a beautiful summer day to check out collectable cars at the state fairgrounds Friday afternoon.
The 22nd annual Goodguys car show has brought exhibitors from all around the US to Des Moines this weekend.
It’s grown from a local get-together in California into one of the top ten car shows in the nation.
More than 4,000 classic cars are entered.
While the cars are the main attraction, organizers say people drive hundreds of miles for the Goodguys show because of the experience.
“You know I just found this sport by driving by a parking lot,” says enthusiast Larry Wu. “For years I thought racing around cones was just silly it wasn’t until I experienced how much fun it is.”
Saturday’s activities include the Goodguys AutoCross and a fireworks show at 8 p.m.
