The parents of a 15-year old who was kidnapped and killed in Dayton will hold a news conference Saturday.
It will take place at the Tree of Hope, which has been decorated in purple to honor the memory of Kathlynn Shepard, from 11:30 a.m.
Kahtlynn’s parents along with members of the non-profit Chelsea’s Light Foundation are expected to announce a push for stricter sentencing and monitoring for sex offenders who target children.
Kathlynn was kidnapped in late May by a previously convicted child-abductor, Michael Klunder. Her body was found in the Des Moines River near Boone in June.
A group of Iowans has been pushing for stricter law since Kathlynn disappeared.
