HORRIBLE HUNDRED: 8 Iowa Puppy Mills Listed
The Human Society calls them the Horrible Hundred. They’re the one hundred worst puppy mills in the country and according to a new report, Iowa is home to eight of them.
“His jaw was hanging straight down and his tongue was swollen and he couldn’t shut his mouth.”
That’s how Amy Heinz, the owner of A Heinz 57 Pet Rescue and Transport described the Yorkie named Victor Channel 13 reported about in May.
When Heinz purchased Victor at a dog auction last spring, his jaw was broken.
The auction was held at Debra Pratt’s farm in New Sharon.
Pratt’s name is one of the 8 Iowa breeders on the Humane Society’s Horrible Hundred list because USDA inspectors had found “Dogs with bulging eyes and dog’s head covered in scabs.”
