He was back at Deere Run, and a no-doubt fan favorite, the 2013 JDC champ teed off for practice at 9 a.m.
Joining Johnson, a big Hawkeye fan, was Iowa standout Steven Ihm.
Zach, always happy near home, but says last year's win doesn't help this year.
“Fortunately I’ve had some success here, I’m trying to put 2012 behind me,” Johnson said. He added the support gives him the backing to play confidently.
Zach will tee off in Wednesday’s Pro-Am at 12:45 p.m.
He'll play the first two rounds of this year's John Deere Classic Thursday and Friday with three time champion Steve Stricker, and Davis Love III.
