A Des Moines police car was dented early Tuesday morning after a suspect who allegedly broke into the Iowa State Fair grandstand head-butted it.

Des Moines police say two men are in the Polk County Jail following the incident. Police were called to the fairgrounds around 1:30 a.m. where they discovered 19-year-old Dajon James, who told them he was there to steal candy and beer from a concession stand.

James said he was alone but police were able to locate 19-year-old Tarif Wright nearby.

Police say both men admitted they climbed over the fence with the intention of stealing from Campbell’s Concessions.

Wright was placed into a police car but taken outside after he vomited inside the vehicle. He repeatedly asked officers for a cigarette and after they ignored his request he allegedly head-butted the hood of the police car.

Police say the dent left by Wright will take about $175 to fix.

Wright is facing several charges including third-degree burglary and criminal mischief. James is charged with third-degree burglary and trespass.
