A Fairfield man is facing charges in connection with a crash that killed his father last year.

Forty-four-year-old Donald Gridley is charged with vehicular homicide, involuntary manslaughter and several traffic violations for the December 2012 incident.

Officials say Gridley was driving a pickup truck with his 65-year-old father Patrick Gridley as a passenger when he lost control. Gridley was headed north on Compentine Road in Wapello County around 3:30 a.m., when he failed to stop at a T intersection with 165th Street. The truck entered the north ditch and came to a stop.

Both men were taken to a local hospital where Patrick Gridley was pronounced dead.

Investigators say a urine test from Donald Gridley showed his blood alcohol level at .198. The legal limit is .08 in Iowa.

Gridley has entered a not guilty plea and will make his initial appearance July 22nd.
