A Bettendorf father and son are behind a popular Apple and Android download.

Mark and Davis Nelson teamed up with Grammy award winning band Train to create “50 Ways to Survive.”

The name of the download is also the name of one of the band’s songs. The lyrics talk about a guy whose girlfriend dumps him, but rather than telling his friend, the guy makes up excuses of how she died.

The band thought it would make for a fun video game and contacted the Nelsons.

When you play, you select a band member and try to save “Virginia.” That’s a nod to one of the band’s first hits, “Meet Virginia.”

The Nelsons say building the game brought them closer together.

The game will likely reach half a million downloads by the end of this week.

While it’s a free app, there are things you can buy during the game, and the band donates all money made to charity.
