Des Moines police have released the name of a man that led them on a chase on a stolen SUV  Wednesday.

Thirty-three-year-old Jamie Arndt is charged with second-degree theft, eluding, operating while intoxicated, and driving with a suspended license.

Police say the chase started on the west side of Des Moines when an undercover officer noticed a suspicious vehicle he thought may have been stolen. He called for assistance from patrol and when they arrived Arndt took off.

The chase moved on to I-235 and then ended at the intersection of East 21st and University. Police used a pit maneuver to stop the SUV but Arndt put it in reverse and tried to get away again. He hit another car while in reverse, but an officer was able use his vehicle to pin the SUV to a utility pole.

Paramedics took Arndt to the hospital with minor injuries. He is now being held in the Polk County Jail.
