One Iowan won’t be coasting down the hills on two wheels like everyone else when RAGBRAI starts next Sunday.
Richard Kresser will exchange two wheels for his two legs as he runs the 406 miles.
Kresser says he knows what he’s getting into as he rode RAGBRAI in 2008.
Kresser has competed in ultra-marathons, but it was when as an Army Captain he was deployed in Afghanistan he had the idea to run the entire thing.
His goal is to raise enough money for a bio feedback treatment program for the Iowa veteran home in Marshalltown.
“It’s where they don’t need any sort of medication for it. It hooks you up to electrodes and you can measure your responses to PTSD and chronic pain and help kind of lower those through using some mind control issues,” explains the 27-year old.
Kresser hopes to raise at least $25,000 dollars. He’s already raised about $6,500. He hopes to collect the remaining donations along the RAGBRAI route.
