The Polk County sheriff’s office has a new system for applying for weapon permits.
People can now apply and pay online 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Now, you don’t have to apply in person, but you will still have to pick up an approved permit.
The sheriff’s office says going paperless will make the process more convenient while maintaining all the safety checks.
“We’re still going to do the same background checks, make sure you’re going through the safety classes that you need for a concealed weapons permit, it’s just that what this does – it eliminates that first step that you’d have to come into the sheriff’s office and apply and now you can do it online,” Brett Long explains.
If you don’t have a computer, you can still stop by the sheriff’s office to fill out an online form.
People paying with a credit or debit cards will be charged a $4 convenience fee.
