Flash flooding took over Lucas County today, taking many of its residents by surprise.
“I didn’t even know it was supposed to be coming, I just heard it start raining and I come outside and there was probably six inches already when I came out here,” says Carl Stewart of Chariton.
Residents say within thirty minutes, the rain had washed away pieces of road and flooded baseball fields.
They say their yards and basements flooded with several inches of water.
Chariton received more than four inches of rain.
