Emergency crews in Monticello say they have found a missing 13-year-old boy after more than 12 hours of searching.

The boy suffers from severe autism. Police say he disappeared from a trail just after 7:00 Monday night while heading to a campsite inside Camp Courageous.

The eastern Iowa camp is a year-round recreational facility for people with disabilities.

The camp’s executive director says the boy was found walking, but he was taken to the hospital to be checked out.

Several agencies helped in the search.
