Eleven states, including Iowa, are taking the I-80 Challenge.

The State Highway Patrol agencies are increasing trooper presence for the next eight days. The goal is to eliminate fatalities along 2,900 miles of Interstate 80 across the U.S. by increased enforcement of speed limits and other traffic laws.

Gov. Terry Branstad, along with the Iowa Department of Public Safety, Iowa State Patrol and other agencies will talk more about the launch of the I-80 challenge at a news conference Wednesday afternoon.

The other states participating on the I-80 Challenge are California, Illinois, Indiana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Utah, and Wyoming.
