RAGBRAI riders are leaving Des Moines Wednesday and starting their trek to Knoxville.

Water Works Park in Des Moines served as home for the riders who camped, and downtown hosted the massive party for riders and fans alike Tuesday night.

Two downtown bridges were closed for the festivities that included concerts by Everclear, Filter, Live, and Sponge. Organizers say more than 30,000 people joined the party at the Court and Walnut avenue bridges.

Now those riders are making their way out of Des Moines and on to the next overnight stop on RAGBRAI, Knoxville.

The cyclists will head north on Fleur Drive then pedal east on Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway to East Sixth Street. They then turn north to Walnut Street.

At Walnut they will turn east and follow it to the Iowa State Fairgrounds.

Officials say these roads should be open by noon.
