An injured Iowa sailor is getting a big down payment on a new home.

Taylor Morris lost both legs and both hands to an explosion in Afghanistan in 2011.

He’s now walking again thanks to new prosthetic legs.

This week the Veterans United Foundation donated $200,000 dollars to Morris to help build a new iPad controlled smart home in Cedar Falls.

The state-of-the-art home will cost a total of $500,000 to build.

Morris is getting help reaching that goal from Gary Sinise.

The actor and veterans advocate is playing a charity concert with his Lieutenant Dan Band in Cedar Falls on August 3rd.

Tickets are on sale now.
