David Flores is back out of jail a little more than two weeks after making a plea deal in a 1996 murder case.
Flores was arrested Saturday morning on a warrant for 4th degree criminal mischief.
Des Moines police say Flores threw a rock at his son’s car, but missed and hit another vehicle — cracking the windshield. Officers arrested Flores after spotting him walking on the street.
In 1997, Flores was convicted in the shooting death of Phyllis Davis and sentenced to life in prison.
In 2009 he was granted a new trial after the discovery of new evidence that pointed to a different suspect in the shooting. Earlier this month he accepted an Alford plea in the case and was released after serving nearly 17 years in prison.
