Police say a Knoxville man used a shock collar on his 12-year-old son.

Thirty-five-year-old Daniel Hardwick is charged with neglect or abandonment of a dependent person.

Knoxville radio station KNIA reports Hardwick was arrested last Thursday after a DHS case worker contacted police. Hardwick allegedly told police he used the shock collar to motivate his 12-year-old son to do his chores.

He faces up to ten years in prison if convicted.
