Current and former Des Moines residents could soon learn what their share of a class action lawsuit will be.
In 2004 a Des Moines resident sued the city and won claiming they were illegally charging franchise fees on utility bills.
Last year the Supreme Court upheld that ruling and ordered the city to repay $39-million to customers.
The city has been working for more than a year to come up with a plan to return the money.
This week the city filed its third amended plan with a Polk County judge.
The plan could be approved soon.
The city will then begin notifying everyone who is owed a refund with details on how to get their money.
