A robbery suspect led Des Moines police on a short chase Tuesday afternoon.

At around 4 p.m. police received a call about an alleged robber armed with a knife in the 4300 block of Williams Street.

Officers spotted the suspect vehicle but when they tried to pull him over he took off.

He eventually stopped when he hit a garage in the 3000 block of Garfield Avenue.

Neighbors say it was terrifying, “I seen a white pickup flying down the street here and he went to turn in the driveway and hit the garage, hit the house, and then hit the tree,” explains witness, Angela Ellis.

The suspect then tried to make a run for it running to his sister's house nearby where police eventually found him and took him into custody.

Authorities have yet to confirm the man's identity.
