This week, Iowa City will take up the issue of allowing 19 and 20-year-olds in bars after 10:00 p.m.

An ordinance passed three years ago set the bar entry age at 21.

Employees at two downtown bars began a petition to repeal the ordinance, hoping to bring in more customers.

Tuesday night, the city council will decide whether or not to send the issue to voters on the November 5th ballot. The city council is expected to unanimously support keeping the ordinance as is.

Iowa City is the home of the University of Iowa.
