A fair weather forecast is on the way for the 2013 Iowa State Fair.

It gets underway Thursday and people are already rolling onto the camp grounds.

It is John Rasmussen’s 69th year at the fairgrounds. He says camping is almost as much fun as the fair because you get to meet so many people.

People have been lining up for days waiting to get some of the coveted open spots.

Many of those are staying RVs, but that hasn’t always been the case.

“When we first started, we used to have a straight truck even, and we put up a tarp over top of it, raised it up a little bit in case it rained and water run out of it. Then it went to tents,” reminisced Rasmussen.

About 2,800 people are camping out.

The Iowa State Fair runs through August 18th. For more, click here.
