A man who may be linked to a stabbing in northwest Iowa and led police on a high speed chase through Scott County is under arrest.

Investigators say 39-year-old Tyrone Washington Jr. is a suspect in a death investigation out of Worth County.

The Iowa Department of Public Safety says a female in Northwood called 911 asking for help Monday morning. She was found with severe injuries and later died. An autopsy is being performed Tuesday.

Officials believed Washington was driving the victim’s car and it was spotted by a State Trooper on I-80 around 3:30 p.m., near the 276 mile marker. The chase reached speeds close to 100 miles an hour and went through Scott County corn and bean fields.

Washington was taken into custody and is being held on traffic charges related to the chase.

Investigators expect to release more information later Tuesday, like the victim’s name and further charges against Washington.
