CAMPAIGN PAYMENT: Sorensen Call Recorded
A conservative website claims it has proof that State Senator Kent Sorenson did accept payment to work for the Ron Paul presidential campaign in 2012.
Sorenson was co-chair of Michele Bachmann’s Iowa campaign but switched to the Ron Paul campaign just five days before the caucuses.
Sorenson says he wasn’t paid to make the switch.
However, theiowarepublican.com has a recording of a phone conversation it says took place days after Sorenson joined Paul.
In the conversation, Sorenson says his wife received a check from Paul’s deputy national campaign manager, Demitri Kesari.
On the tape, Sorenson also stated he was yet to cash the check.
State Senate rules prohibit campaigns from paying senators directly or indirectly.
It comes after the same conservative website published emails also backing the claim Sorenson took payments.
Sorenson has denied all wrong doing.
