A long time member of the WHO family has passed away.
George Carpenter died Friday in Des Moines following a battle with cancer.
He was 85 years old.
Carpenter’s 40 year broadcast career started at the NBC affiliate in Omaha, Nebraska, he then held management positions at KCRG in Cedar Rapids, and he later joined WHO — where he became vice president and general manager of both WHO Radio and Television.
A memorial service for Carpenter is scheduled for Monday at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul in Des Moines.
