Ed Wilson always draws a crowd at the fair but there’s another Channel 13 talent who’s even more popular on the Iowa State Fairgrounds.

Floppy is out of the basement of the State Historical Museum and on display inside the Varied Industries Building.

The children’s puppet is part of Governor Branstad’s booth.

Floppy and Duane Ellett starred in a children’s variety show on WHO-TV from 1957 to 1987.

The pair were regular performers at the fair during those years as well.

For the viewers who grew up with Floppy, he’s a must see this year.

“Floppy is an icon, even for my age.  I watched it as a kid,” Mark Anderson said.

Floppy was recently taken off permanent display at the Historical Museum. Demonstrations soon followed along with high profile comments from NBC’s Jimmy Fallon.

After this latest public appearance, Floppy will be taken to be taken down to be preserved for future generations.
