Talk about a kick to the stones just before football season.  2014 Hawkeye football recruit Ross Pierschbacher, an offensive lineman from Cedar Falls, flips his commitment from Iowa to Alabama.  Pierschbacher was Iowa’s highest rated recruit, a 4-star by both Rivals and Scout.  What makes this ‘flip’ sting even more is Pierschbacher is a Hawkeye fan, he lives an hour and a half North of Iowa City.  But, lets also be realistic he’s got a full-ride offer to play for the best team in the country.  He will likely have 5 years to win a national title, and assuming he someday starts for the Crimson Tide his NFL profile won’t be any bigger than at ‘Bama.  Roll Tide just sucked the life out of Hawkeye nation.

Speaking of the Hawks, the basketball team is going to be good.  They’re on the way to Europe, and dancing, to Soulja Boy.

Dallas Clark signs a 1 year deal with the Baltimore Ravens.  Good for Dallas.  One of the good guys.  Clark is entering his 11th year in the NFL and can still play.

Urbandale is heading to the Little League World Series.  Shout out to my hometown.  Two straight walk-off wins to make it to Williamsport, that’s clutch.  I talked to Head Coach Robert Ball on the phone on Friday, he couldn’t have been more excited for the kids.  Best of luck.  Channel 13’s Michael Admire will be in Williamsport following the team beginning on Wednesday.

Have you seen Peyton and Eli Manning rap?  Good stuff.

Michael Jordan recently dunked at his flight school basketball camp.  Jordan is 50.  I’d still pay to watch him play.

Zach Johnson finishes tied for 8th at the PGA Championship.  Johnson’s 2013 started off extremely rocky but he has turned it around.  He’s now 23rd in the FedEx Cup standings, has 5 Top 10 finishes, and made over $2-million dollars.

Congratulations to Alex Rodriguez for hitting his first homerun of his career on Sunday.  I assume the other 647 don’t count…

I started watching ‘The Newsroom’ on HBOGO this past week.  Bad idea.  I’m hooked.  Not only am I hooked on the show but I’m hooked on HBOGO.  Every episode, movie, standup act, you name it you can watch it.  Damn you HBOGO.

The University of Iowa is ranked as the #1 party school in the country.  Finally, all of the hard work pays off.  I contributed my fair share of $$$ to downtown Iowa City so I’m glad to finally see it reap the rewards.  Congrats Iowa City, you deserve it.
