CROP REPORT: Dry, Cool Weather Has Impact

Iowa’s Agriculture Secretary says less than half of the state’s corn and soybean crop is now in good to excellent condition.

Bill Northey says rain and warmer weather is needed for the crop to mature. “Much of the state received some precipitation, but few areas received significant rainfall and more is needed as the crop continues to mature,” Northey said.

Both corn and soybean conditions declined slightly from the previous week.

The corn crop is rated 5-percent very poor, 12-percent poor, 34-percent fair, 39-percent good and 10-percent excellent.

The soybean crop is rated 4-percent very poor, 11-percent poor, 37-percent fair, 39-percent good and 9-percent excellent.
