Des Moines Police are investigating two stabbings that happened about an hour apart early Thursday morning.
The first stabbing left one man dead.
It happened on the city’s north side, in the 1900 block of 7th Street after 2:30 a.m.
When police arrived they found a man in the apartment, dead from a stab wound. Police say the victim was in his twenties. They are not releasing the man’s name at this time.
Police said they have a person of interest in the case and that they are questioning that person.
Earlier Thursday morning there was a woman in the back of a squad car, very visibly upset. It is not clear at this point if that was the person of interest in the case or if she was just another person to be questioned in the case.
Police were also called to a stabbing at the Jefferson Apartments, at 1519 Grand Avenue. The stabbing took place in an apartment there but the victim did not stay there. Officers were then called to the Quik Trip just two blocks away. Paramedics took the man away but with non-life threatening injuries. Police say the man was stabbed in the arm and that he should be alright.
They have not arrested anyone in this case, police say it appears to just an argument that got out of hand.
Police will be investigating further as these cases are both still developing. More details should emerge in both cases later in the day on Thursday.
