INMATE ESCAPE: Officials Searching For Convict

The Iowa Department of Corrections says an inmate has escaped from the Clarinda Correctional Facility.

Thirty-eight-year-old Rodney Long was assigned to a room in the minimum security lodge. Officials say it appears Long escaped over the recreation yard fence sometime between 4:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. Friday.

Security personnel are helping local authorities search the area.

Long is serving a five-year sentence on a third-degree burglary conviction out of Appanoose County.
