The wife of a former Des Moines police officer has been sent to prison.

A federal judge sentenced 46-year-old Bobbi Jo Wojewoda to 18-months behind bars for conspiracy to commit bank fraud.

Wojewoda admitted she used her position as an appraiser to inflate home values to help her and others qualify for mortgages.

She also failed to disclose conflicts of interest to the mortgage lender when she appraised her own home.

The sentence includes 60-months supervised release following the completion of her prison term.

Her husband and former police officer Wade Wojewoda pled guilty to receiving loans knowing they had been obtained under false pretenses.

He’s currently serving three years probation.
